WENHAM, Mass. - Hosting the Seahawks of Salve Regina University today in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament action, the Fighting Scots captured a 10-4 win over their guests to stay alive in postseason play. With the win the Scots advance to take on Curry tomorrow at Springfield College at 11:00a.m., while the Seahawks close out their 2012 campaign with a 14-27 overall record.

Four Seahawks earn All-CCC honors

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University baseball team had four players receive All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) honors, as announced by commissioner Gregg Kaye on Wednesday morning. Senior Nicholas Politelli was selected as the CCC Baseball Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year while also earning Honorable Mention recognition. Sophomore catcher Dominic Di Sano was named to the All-CCC First Team, freshman Joe Haley earned a nod to the All-CCC Second Team, and senior Matt Capone joined Politelli on the Honorable Mention squad.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University freshman Joe Haley has been announced as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week by commissioner Gregg Kaye on Tuesday morning. This marks the second time this season that Haley has earned the award.

BEVERLY, Mass. - Salve Regina learned it clinched the sixth and final seed in the conference baseball championships with Wentworth Institute of Technology getting swept at Curry. PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Sophomore Daniel Donohue (Westbury, N.Y.) led off the game with his first home run of the season, but it was Rhode Island College ending the game with a walk-off home run to defeat Salve Regina University baseball, 9-8, in 10 innings.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Freshman Joe Haley went 4-for-7 with two triples, a double, and seven runs batted, while senior Nicholas Politelli enjoyed a five-hit day in addition to earning the game one win on the mound, as the Salve Regina University baseball team swept Gordon College during a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader at Brother Reynolds Field on Monday evening. The pair of victories lift the Seahawks to 14-22 on the season and 6-8 in the conference, while the Scots fall to 14-20 overall, evening their CCC mark to 7-7.

With the two losses, the Seahawks drop to 12-22 overall and 4-8 during CCC play, while the Colonels improve to 13-18 on the season, including a 9-3 conference mark.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Junior John Micciche finished 3-for-5 with a home run and three runs scored, sparking the Nichols College baseball team to a doubleheader sweep over Salve Regina University during Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Brother Reynolds Field on Saturday afternoon. The Bison took game one by a score of 5-0 before holding off a late charge by the Seahawks in the nightcap to nail down a 6-4 victory. The pair of losses drops Salve Regina to 9-19 (3-5 CCC), while Nichols improves to 6-14 (3-7 CCC).

Thomas Betros earned his second save of the season by retiring all six batters he faced, five on strikeouts.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University baseball scored four times in the 7th inning to overtake visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 8-7, as pitcher Thomas Betros (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) earned the save by striking out five of the six batters he faced in hitless relief.
