Seahawks sprint to success at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass.-- Eight Seahawk women's cross country runners finished under 22 minutes at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational Sunday. Isabella Hastings, Anna Weygang and Liv Forbes posted the team's top three times. All three athletes finished in the top 110 out of 280 competitors. 

Salve Regina finished 16th out of 37 teams in the women's varsity race and eighth out of nine in the women's JV race. The top five programs in the varsity race included Boston College (1), Stonehill College (2), Connecticut College (3), Southern Connecticut State University (4) and Southern New Hampshire University (5).

TEAM THOUGHTS:

"It's super inspiring to see that our entire top seven went under 22:00 and I've never seen our team do that before," said junior Avery Braccia. "It's a really good start to the season."

"I think we're considered underdogs this season," said senior Liv Forbes. "Each race we're proving that we're getting faster and faster and other teams are taking us seriously." 

Up next for Salve Regina women's cross country will be the Brown Bear Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 30 in Attleboro, Mass.
