NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University senior Amy Irving (Bohemia, R.I.) as its runner of the week for women's cross country (October 10-16).

Runner of the Week - Irving finished inside the top 25 in a field of 250 at the Connecticut College Invitational. She completed the 6K course in 22:35.1, setting the pace as the Seahawks finished eighth overall. The meet included three of the top 10 teams in New England and two ranked teams from outside of the region.

"Amy continues to demonstrate that she can race with some of the best runners in the region," says head coach Rob McGuinness. "The tactics we saw today were typical Amy, and this race offered proof that her fitness is where it needs to be. I'm eager to see what she will do in the championship meets.

The Seahawks return to action on Oct. 29 at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship.
