SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) recognizes Salve Regina University freshman Victoria Varone (Providence, R.I.) with its Rookie of the Week honor for women's cross country.

Rookie of the Week - Varone earned the CCC Rookie of the Year title on Saturday as her 6K time at the CCC Championship meet was the fastest of all rookie runners.  Varone finished the course in a time of 24:32 was just 15 seconds shy of second place. The freshman's time helped the Seahawks place third at the championship meet as they scored 63 points.

Varone has won three weekly awards from the conference this season.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the ECAC Championship at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I.
