Seahawks best Westfield St. 3-0 but fall to Plymouth St. 3-2

PLYMOUTH, NH. -- Salve Regina traveled to a nonconference tri-match Saturday and won the first match of the day 3-0 against Westfield State University. In game two, the Seahawks battled with Plymouth State University, but the Panthers endurance propelled them to a 3-2 win. 

Through consistency the Seahawks won all three sets against the Owls. Plymouth St. found their advantage as the match progressed and the Panthers' stamina put them on top. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:
Final: Salve Regina 3, Westfield St. 0
Record: Salve Regina (11-13), Westfield St. (8-17)
All-Time Series: Today's win brings the Seahawks to 3-0 against the Owls. The last win was a 3-0 success in 2022.

WESTFIELD ST. MATCHUP: 

  • Brighton Solheim made 13 kills and had 11 digs. 
  • Lauren Hoyle provided 12 kills, followed by Sydney Ramsey with eight. 
  • Siena DeCicco had a successful match with 38 assists and two aces. 
  • In total the team made 46 kills, 97 total attempts and had a hitting percentage of .361. 

PLYMOUTH ST. MATCHUP: 

  • Lucy Swanson led the team's kill numbers with 15 kills, followed by Brighton Solheim and Lauren Hoyle, who each made 13. 
  • Jacey Cosciello had two aces during the match.
  • Again, Siena DeCicco topped the assist category with a total of 53 accross the five-setter. 
  • Kate Murphy had 17 digs during the contest. 
  • The team made a total of 59 kills and 156 total attempts and had a hitting percentage of .269.

ON THE HORIZON: 

On Tuesday, October 31 the Seahawks will host Springfield College in a spooky matchup on the Rodgers Recreation Center hardwood at 7 p.m.
