Seahawks defeated by Beavers 3-0

NEWPORT, R.I. -- Women's volleyball battled it out with the Babson Beavers Saturday afternoon, but the Beavers came away with a 3-0 win to retain their No. 1 rank in the NEWMAC

The Seahawks started set one strong with a kill from Lydia Daskalos. However Lulu McShane put the Beavers on the board and together with Lauren Gips and Isabella Allen, Babson had ten kills in the first set. The Seahawks finished off both set one and two with a final score of 25-16 in favor of Babson. Down two sets, Salve Regina went on a 4-2 run at the beginning of set three and improved upon their score from the first two sets by five points with a 25-19 loss in the third and final set. After today's result the Seahawks fall to 0-7 in the NEWMAC and the Beavers move up to 7-0.

All-Time Series: Prior to this afternoon's match, the Seahawks and Beavers were 3-3, now the all-time record is 4-3 in favor of Babson. Last year the Beavers won 3-0. 

NOTEWORTHY: 

  • Siena DeCicco had 13 digs, 13 assists and two blocks over three sets. 
  • Kate Murphy was close behind DeCicco with 12 digs. 
  • Brighton Solheim made ten kills, one ace and one assist. 
  • Sydney Ramsey led the team in blocks, providing four over the course of the match. 
  • The Seahawks had 22 kills, 127 total attacks, nine blocks, 32 digs and 20 assists during the contest.

ON THE HORIZON: 

Next week on Tuesday, October 17 Salve Regina will play the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. at 7 p.m. Prior to their contest against Emerson College on Saturday, Coast Guard was 13-7 overall and 3-3 in conference action.
