NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team swept visiting Curry College 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-17) in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon.

Series and Streaks
The Seahawks improve to 10-0 versus the Colonels. All ten victories have been sweeps.

Three Stars of the Match

  1. Salve Regina junior Katelyn O'Brien (Bridgeport, Pa.) posted match-highs in assists (16) and Aces (4).
  2. Salve Regina freshman Jaime Harrington (North Kingstown, R.I.) led the Seahawks backline with 10 digs and oversaw a critical 7-0 scoring run in the first from the service stripe.
  3. Salve Regina senior Nicole Karabaich (Greenlawn, N.Y.) paced the Seahawks scoring with 11 kills on a .375 swing percentage, and added a solo block.

Turning Point
The Colonels led 17-14 in the first set, but a 7-0 run put the Seahawks back on top 21-17. Back-to-back Salve errors kept the Colonels close, but a 4-0 run, book-ended by kills from Mia Lang (Wantagh, N.Y.) handed the Seahawks the first-set victory. The Colonels next and only lead in the match was a 4-3 edge in the third set as Salve Regina was able to comfortably earn the sweep.

Quick Hits

  • Lexie Pereira (Attleboro, Mass.) led the Colonels attack and defense with nine kills and a solo block while also collecting a match-high 18 digs.
  • Brooke Reissfelder (BIddeford, Maine) had a team-high 15 assists for the Colonels.
  • Amanda Wood (Westwood, Mass.) had a match-high two solo blocks for Curry.
