BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's volleyball team defeated Salve Regina University 3-1 Saturday in the first action of the season.

The opening set saw the Hawks winning 25-12 then Salve Regina settled into set two, winning 25-21. Set three went Roger Williams way again for a 25-19 win. Despite a late game surge by Salve in the fourth, the Hawks finished out the set with a 27-25 win.

"It was great to play a game after such a long time of not playing due to COVID-19," said first-year head coach Sebastian Noordzy. "It was a great trip to Bristol to see how we would fair against a top team in our conference and to give the seniors a final chance to compete in a Seahawks uniform."
