NEW LONDON, Conn. The Salve Regina women's volleyball team is now 15-8 after sweeping Eastern Connecticut State for its ninth straight win before falling 3-0 to Coast Guard.

Against Coast Guard senior Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, N.H.) led the Seahawks with 10 kills and 12 digs. Senior Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) had 30 assists while senior Dianna Tauro (Melrose, Mass.) added 11 digs of her own.

The Bears charged out to a 7-1 lead and withstood a strong run by Salve Regina to win the first set 25-21.

Coast Guard looked to have the game in control at 23-17 but the Seahawks stormed back scoring nine of the next ten points to tie the match at 25. The Bears, however, did not allow Salve Regina to finish their comeback clawing back from down one to win the second set 29-27.

The final set was a back and forth affair as the two teams were either tied or swapped leads 17 times. The Bears closed it out by scoring five of the final seven points to win the third and final set 25-23.

The Seahawks will return to action on Wednesday October 22 on the road against Western New England.
