NEWPORT, R.I. –Junior Jennifer Duggan's (Merrimack,N.H.) third double-double of the season led the Salve Regina women's volleyball team to a three-set sweep of visiting Eastern Connecticut State (25-13, 25-22, 25-19) Tuesday night inside Rodgers Recreation Center.

Today's match marked the 13th time the two teams have met and just the second time the Seahawks have defeated the Warriors. Last season, Salve Regina snapped a 0-11 skid with a five-set victory in the ECAC New England Region championships.

Duggan led all players with 11 kills on the evening while adding 10 digs in the match. Junior Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) also collected 10 digs while dishing out a match-high 33 assists. Freshman Kay Mullen (Fairhaven, Mass.) led the attack for Eastern Connecticut St. with eight kills while senior Erynn Miller (Stratford, Conn.) picked up 14 digs in the three sets. Junior Allie Henry (Middletown, Conn.) handed out a team-high 14 assists.

With the score knotted at 4-4 in the opening set, a service error from ECSU kicked off an 11-3 run for the Seahawks (10-1) to break open the first set, 13-7, in favor of Salve Regina. Junior Erin McGloin (West Islip, N.Y.) served four-straight points to close out the set for the Seahawks.

After battling point-for-point through the first 11 points of the second set, Salve Regina took its first substantial lead of the game at 9-6 behind McGloin's serving. Salve Regina took a nine-point lead at 21-12 behind the serving of senior Clare Adams (New Concord, Ohio) but the Warriors battled back to pull with in one, 23-22, with sophomore Allie Luppi (Tewksbury, Mass.) at the service line. After the Seahawks got the serve back off a bad Warriors' serve, sophomore Emily Lipinski (Hampden, Mass.) put the game away with her seventh kill of the match.

The Seahawks jumped out to a quick 12-6 lead over the Warriors in the final set. A pair of service aces from Henry got Eastern Connecticut to within four, 22-18 but that would be as close as the Warriors would coming as Adams finished out the match for the Seahawks at the service line.

Salve Regina returns to the court when the Seahawks host Newbury and Framingham St. in a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 21 starting at 11 a.m. while the Warriors travel to face University of Southern Maine at noon on Saturday.
