WENHAM, Mass. – Gordon captured its first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Track and Field Championship title on Saturday (April 30) on its home track in Wenham, Mass. The Fighting Scots scored 126.5 team points to top the seven-team field.

Endicott also had its best ever finish at the CCC Championship finishing as the runner-up with 116.5 points. Suffolk took third place with a team score of 113 followed by the University of New England, which earned 102 points. Roger Williams, Salve Regina, and Nichols made up the bottom half of the table with 69, 59, and one points, respectively.

In addition to the team championship, Fighting Scots student-athletes took individual championship titles in five events. Senior Abigail Baier (Truckee, Calif.) took gold in two events, winning the 800m and the long jump. She edged out the 800m, winning the race by a fraction of second at 2:30.18, and posted a mark of 5.06m in the long jump. Fellow senior Emma Shearer (Hampden, Maine) was also a double-gold competitor winning the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:09.13 and the 3K steeple chase, finishing at 12:22.35. Freshman Amaris Goodwin (Torrington, Conn.) was the last Gordon student-athlete to take gold as she won the 400m with a time of 1:00.57.

The second-place Gulls won four different individual events. Senior Nicole D'Angelo (Readfield, Maine) was the CCC Champion in both the pole vault and shot put. She cleared 3.20m in the pole vault and registered a 11.36m mark in the shot. Junior Gates MacPherson (Thorold, Ontario) gave the Gulls another win in the field events as she took gold in the discus with a 33.99m throw. Senior Bianca Del Maestro (Malden, Mass.) won the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.09.

Suffolk had three individual championships at this year's meet with sophomore Amanda Walden (Foxboro, Mass.) winning two of them. She took gold in both the 100m and 200m dashes with respective times of 12.76 and 26.43. Freshman Caitlyn Filloramo (Southport, Conn.) won the third Rams title, winning the hammer throw with a 46.07m mark.

The University of New England won both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, giving them two of their four event wins. The 4x100 team clocked in at 51.69, while the 4x400 finished in 4:14.08. Rachel Pion (Seekonk, Mass.), Sydni Lehr (Gilford, N.H.), and Erica Dimmick (Sutton, Mass.) were all a part of both teams with Ashley Kelley (Westford, Mass.) joining the 4x100 and Jasmine Syed (Canterbury, N.H.) completing the 4x400 team. Syed also won an individual championship, claiming the 1500m title with a time of 4:51.48. First-year Nina Parziale (Williamsburg, Va.) won the 5k with a time of 18:33.70 and Anna Evans (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won the high jump with a height of 1.52m to give the Nor'easters their last two individual titles.

Roger Williams' Tasha Strock (Castleton, N.Y.) won the triple jump with a mark of 10.38m and Salve Regina's Courtney Collibee (Kingston, N.H.) won the javelin with a toss of 37.40m to complete the list of individual champions.

Each of the medalists at Saturday's championship will be named to the All-Conference teams with gold medalists earning First Team All-Conference honors, silver medalists earning Second Team All-Conference recognition, and bronze medalists being named to the Third Team. Additionally, the seven CCC head coaches will vote on major postseason awards next week. Following the voting period the conference will recognize a Track Athlete of the Year, Track Rookie of the Year, Field Performer of the Year, Field Rookie of the Year, and a CCC Scholar-Athlete. Coaches will also be voting on winners for Coach of the Year and Team Sportsmanship.
