NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Emma Gruber (New Canaan, Conn.) has earned all-conference accolades from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) in voting by the league's nine women's tennis head coaches.

For the second time in her career, Gruber was selected to the second team all-conference singles (2014, 2016).

Gruber has played the entire season at the top singles position for the first time in her career. As a sophomore, she played 11 of her 14 singles matches at No. 1 (three at No. 2), and as a junior last season, Gruber played once in the top singles spot with 11 matches at the second spot.

In addition to singles play, the senior captain has led the squad with seven appearances at No. 1 doubles this season, and 34 overall.

"Emma's the definition of a team player and a student-athlete," says head coach Peter Torgrimson. "All her teammates look up to her as  a great example on the court and in the classroom."

While majoring in global business and economics, Gruber carries a 3.90 grade point average into her senior year. She studied abroad in France last spring.

Gruber will join her classmate, Taylor Amendola (Westbrook, Conn.), on Sunday, October 16, as the duo is recognized on Senior Day when the Seahawk tennis programs (men's and women's) host Johnson & Wales University (12 p.m.).
