NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore Emma Gruber (New Canaan, Conn.) as its Player of the Week for women's tennis (September 22-28).

Player of the Week - Gruber helped lead the Seahawks to a 2-0 week. In victories over CCC rivals Curry and Wentworth, Gruber posted straight-set wins at #1 singles position and went a perfect 2-0 at the #1 doubles with partner Hayley Maxwell (Pound Ridge, N.Y.).

For the season, Gruber has a 4-2 mark in singles and a 5-3 record in doubles, including a 1-1 performance with partner Kasey Walther (Natick, Mass.) in the 30th annual Grass Court Doubles Championships hosted by Salve Regina (4-2) at the Tennis Hall of Fame on September 14.

The Seahawks return to conference action on Wednesday hosting three-time defending champion Endicott College before the final home match of the regular season on Saturday hosting Nichols College. Maxwell and her sister seniors (Elizabeth DiFilippo, Anastasia Lara, and Meg Olson) will be honored prior to the match with the Bison.
