Five Seahawks on CSC Academic All-District® Team

Salve Regina women's soccer players on the CSC Academic All-District® Team

NEWPORT, R.I. (Tuesday, November 21, 2023) – The Salve Regina University women's soccer team had five student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team, as released this afternoon. To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District® honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore or above and a starter or significant reserve.

Sophomores Ella Cence, Jessica Galante, Reagan Moffatt, Marissa Perachi, and Sara Wiejkus become the first Seahawk women's soccer players to earn Academic All-District® honors.

The Seahawks went 5-7-5 in 2023, and 3-7-1 in their first season in the NEWMAC, finishing the regular season with a 3-1 win over visiting Wellesley College. Salve Regina went 3-4-3 at home while the Seahawks were better on the natural grass of Reynolds Field (3-2-3; .563).

Salve Regina's 2023 Academic All-District® Selections:

Ella Cence (So. • back)
Medway, Massachusetts
Major: Art

  • Played in all 17 games and started 16 of them
  • Had one assist for one point

Jessica Galante (So. • midfield)
Dover, New Hampshire
Major: Business Administration

  • Played and started all 17 games
  • Scored one (1) goal, a game-winner, on October 28 versus Wellesley

Reagan Moffatt (So. • keeper)
Denville, New Jersey
Major: Administration of Justice

  • Played 13 games and started 12 (70.5 percent) of them
  • Posted a 3-4-4 mark with 64 saves (.736 save percentage)
  • Had two (2) combined shutouts with Sabrina Lawless

Marissa Perachi (So. • forward)
Washington Depot, Connecticut
Major: Education

  • Played in all 17 games
  • Had one (1) assist
  • More than half her shots were on goal (.542)

Sara Wiejkus (So. • forward)
Marshfield, Massachusetts
Major: Nursing

  • Played and started all 17 games
  • Scored four (4) goals for eight (8) points
  • 60 percent of her shots on goal (24/40)
