Olivia Tacconi - NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week (10/23-10-29/2023)

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The NEWMAC has announced its Athlete of the Week honorees for the week ending October 29, 2023, and Salve Regina University freshman back/midfielder Olivia Tacconi (Waldwick, N.J.) has been selected as the Offensive Player of the Week for women's soccer.

Tacconi netted two second-half goals at Coast Guard, enabling Salve Regina to salvage a tie with the Bears on the road. She also tallied an assist, as she chased down a long pass late on Saturday to turn it into a cross that teammate Grace Hudson finished with the final goal in a 3-1 Seahawk win.

"Olivia has a calmness to her play that gets overlooked and this week she really came alive when the team needed it," said Seahawk second-year head coach Tanya Roberts. "As coaches we speak about placement over power and being unselfish when the angle to shoot isn't on. Her two goals and one assist this week showed how coachable she really is and can't wait to see her growth over the next four years."

The Seahawks (5-7-5, 3-7-1 NEWMAC) finished its first season in the New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) just outside the playoff race with 10 points (eighth seeded Clark had 11 points) and tied with two other schools (Wheaton, Wellesley) whom Salve Regina had defeated. The team's record on Reynolds Field, their natural grass home site, was 3-2-3.
