Barnaby scores first college goal in 1-0 Seahawk shutout

NEWPORT, R.I. (September 20, 2022) -- The Salve Regina University women's soccer team won its third straight game at Brother Michael Reynolds Field on the Seahawk campus in Newport. Freshman Taylor Barnaby (Portsmouth, R.I.) was the hometown hero for the Seahawks with her first collegiate goal on a long cross from freshman Hannah Daniewicz (Preston, Conn.) in the 25th minute. Both Seahawks had entered the game around the mid-point of the first half.

All-Time Series: Salve Regina has won the last four meetings with UMass Dartmouth since 2016, including the last three by shutout. The Corsairs lead the overall series 17-11-1.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Reagan Moffatt (Denville, N.J.) lowered her goals against average to 1.54 with her first collegiate shutout and improves to 4-2-0 on the season with her 10-save effort.
  • Kat Hubbard made seven stops for the Corsairs.
  • Seahawks outshot the Corsairs by four in the first half, 11-7, but managed only one shot in the second 45 minutes while UMass Dartmouth pressured Moffatt with nine shots.
  • UMass Dartmouth had nine corner kicks and Salve Regina had just two.

Salve Regina returns to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday when it hosts University of New England on Reynolds Field at noon.
