CCC coaches pick Pickard, McLaughlin for women's soccer accolades

WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-CCC HISTORY

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its 2021 Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and major award winners Friday morning. All 10 CCC schools were represented on this year's list. Western New England had the most selections with seven.

Two student-athletes were honored this season as Offensive Players of the Year as both Bianca Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) from Roger Williams and Allison Bruehwiler (Old Saybrook, Conn.) from WNE were selected. Meanwhile, three members of the Endicott squad were named major award winners. Hannah Lederman (Natick, Mass.) was voted the Defensive Player of the Year, Riley Rischitelli (North Brookfield, Mass.) was selected as Rookie of the Year, and Megan Smith (Glastonbury, Conn.) was named the CCC Scholar-Athlete. Their coach Jodi Kenyon was selected by her peers as this year's CCC Coach of the Year. Nichols was the Team Sportsmanship award winner.

Voting for the All-CCC Teams and major awards was conducted by the 10 CCC women's soccer head coaches following the conclusion of the regular season.

Bruehwiler and Robbins were also two of the three forwards named to the All-CCC First Team. Joining them was Gordon's Calla Ashley (Lancaster, Pa.). In the First Team midfield were Endicott's Jaymie Caponigro (Swampscott, Mass.), Roger Williams' Rachel Oster (Scituate, R.I.), and Western New England's Autumn Hathaway (Colchester, Vt.). There were four backs named to the First Team, including Endicott's Lederman, Gordon's McKenna Feller (Puyallup, Wash.), the University of New England's Riley Dunphy (Halifax, Mass.), and WNE's Summer Hathaway (Colchester, Vt.). Suffolk's Allison Rodrigues (North Andover, Mass.) was the All-CCC First Team goalkeeper.

There were 12 student-athletes named to the All-CCC Second Team, including trios from Endicott and UNE. The three Gulls earning selections were Rischitelli at forward, Chloe Waldron (Harwinton, Conn.) at midfield, and Gillian Magnier (Shelburne, Vt.) at back. The Nor'easters earning Second Team recognition were midfielder Alyssa Boilard (Wilbraham, Mass.), back Erica Dimmick (Sutton, Mass.), and goalkeeper Sydney Gillingham (Standish, Maine). Gordon and Suffolk each had two Second Team honorees with midfielders Sofia Gish (Lancaster, Pa.) and Shelby Jones (Greenville, N.C.) representing the Fighting Scots and midfielder Hayley Long (Exeter, N.H.) and back Grace Owens (Sutton, Mass.) representing the Rams. Western New England forward Isabella Montalvo (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Roger Williams forward Leah Yucius (Duxbury, Mass.) completed the All-CCC Second Team.

The All-CCC Third Team featured 11 student-athletes starting with forwards Lily Christian (Plymouth, Mass.) from Suffolk, Meagan McLaughlin (East Hampton, Conn.) from Salve Regina, and Maegan Roy (Thompson, Conn.) from Nichols. Two midfielders from WNE were selected to the Third Team in Danielle McCarthy (Old Lyme, Conn.) and Samantha Vitka (Stratford, Conn.), while Salve's Olivia Pickard (Wellfleet, Mass.) filled the third spot. The All-CCC Third Team backline was comprised of Sydney Dewhurst (East Bridgewater, Mass.) from Curry, Allie LaRue (Graham, Wash.) and Savannah Metz (New Cumberland, Pa.) from Gordon, and Lauren Bradley (Lumberton, N.J.) from Wentworth, while WNE's Molly McLaughlin (Guilford, Conn.) took the goalkeeper spot.
