Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - Three players had multi-goal games for visiting UMass Boston as it defeated the Salve Regina University women's soccer team 6-2 in non-league action Wednesday afternoon.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. UMass senior Mary Jo Murphy (Worcester, Mass.) scored twice and handed out an assist.
  2. UMass junior Kaylee Haynes (Bridgewater, Mass.) scored twice in the first half.
  3. Salve Regina junior Georgia Drake (Plymouth, Mass.) made 11 saves in the loss to fall to 6-6 in net.

Turning Point
Haynes second goal in the span of eight minutes was a perfect strike from 25 yards away at the buzzer to end the first half giving the Beacons a 3-0 lead at the break. Salve Regina was able to score twice in the second half, so Haynes last-second shot proved to be the game-winning tally for the visitors.

Quick Hits

  • UMass freshman Maggie Kelley (Paxton, Mass.) bookended the Beacons scoring with goals in the 5th and 58th.
  • Maria Spylios (Leonminster, Mass.) made four saves to improve to 6-2-2 in net before yielding to Isabella O'Connell (Abington, Mass.) who made three saves in 30 minutes of action in the second half.
  • Emily Rio (East Brookefield, Mass.) got the Seahawks on the board in the 50th with her second goal of the season.
  • Bridget Kawecki (Old Saybrook, Conn.) scored her first career goal in the 73rd to round out the Seahawks scoring.
  • UMass held a 25-14 edge in shots and 17-9 advantage in shots on goal.
