Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - Three goals from sophomore Zoe Cox (Whitman, Mass.) all set up by Olivia Pickard (Wellfleet, Mass.), and 13 saves for Georgia Drake (Plymouth, Mass.) helped the Salve Regina University women's soccer team to a 4-3 victory over visiting Clark University in non-conference action Wednesday evening.

The Seahawks led 1-0 at halftime, and 4-1 with less than two minutes remaining. However, Clark scored two goals in a manner of 49 seconds to make it a one score game in the 90th minute. The Cougars were able to get the ball, but could not get another shot on frame and the Seahawks held on for the narrow victory after leading comfortably for most of the second half.

The Seahawks snap a three-game losing streak to the Cougars who still own a 7-2 record all-time.

  1. Salve Regina sophomore Zoe Cox scored the first three goals of the night for the Seahawks for her first career hat-trick.
  2. Salve Regina junior Georgia Drake (Plymouth, Mass.) made a career-high 13 saves to improve to 5-5 in net.
  3. Salve Regina junior Olivia Pickard tallied a career-high three assists.

Turning Point
Cox's hat-trick goal in the 67th made it 3-1, then Meagan McLaughlin's (East Hampton, Conn.) fourth of the season in the 70th gave Salve Regina some insurance that they would wind up needing. The 4-1 lead held until the final minutes when Imani Salazar (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Jamie Stern (Highland Park, Ill.) scored for the Cougars to make things interesting, but the visitors could not find the equalizer making McLaughlin's goal the game-winner.
