NEWPORT, R.I. (September 11, 2021) - After a scoreless first half and first seven minutes of the second half, Salve Regina University women's soccer tallied three goals to defeat Keene State College, 3-0, in non-league action at Reynolds Field.

Salve Regina evens the all-time series at three wins apiece with the Seahawks victorious in the last three meetings; second shutout since 2018.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina junior Meagan McLaughlin (East Hampton, Conn.) had a foot in all three Seahawk scores. She fed the ball ahead to Zoe Cox (Whitman, Mass.) on the first score in the 53rd minute. In the 55th minute, McLaughlin finished off a free kick with her header down to the right of the Owls' keeper. And finally, McLaughlin's cross setup Olivia Pickard (Wellfleet, Mass.) with her first goal of the season in the 73rd minute.
  2. Salve Regina junior goalkeeper Geogia Drake (Mashpee, Mass.) stopped all seven shots on her net to finish with her second shutout and third win.
  3. Salve Regina senior captain and back Molly Leary (Portland, Conn.) kept clearing balls away from Drake to support the Seahawk shutout.

Key Stat of the Game
Both teams whistled for double-digit fouls - Keene State with 11, and Salve Regina with 10. The Seahawks were offsides just once.
