Wildcats best Seahawks in Bristol

BRISTOL, R.I. - Junior Chloe Martinez grabbed two goals in the first 21 minutes of the match en route to the Wildcats 4-1 victory over Salve Regina on Friday evening at Roger Williams. 

Martinez connected for her first goal of the season just eight minutes in courtesy of a pass from sophomore Hayley Viebrock. Fourteen minutes later, Martinez found the back of the net again for what would prove to be the game-winner. Senior Olivia Cairrao collected a pair of assists on the next two tallies as Viebrock scored her second of the year and classmate Sophia Silva score her first career goal to push JWU in front 4-0 early in the second half. Salve would gather an unassisted goal from Emily Rio with just over 10 minutes left before the Wildcats shut to door for the 4-1 victory.

Georgia Drake made six saves for the Seahawks while Carly McCrumb made one save and picked up the win for the Wildcats before yeilding to Shannon Stockero in the second half.

Johnson & Wales (2-0-0) hosts day two of the intrastate tournament as they will battle Roger Williams at 7 p.m., on Saturday night following the 4 p.m., matchup featuring Rhode Island College and Salve Regina (1-1-0).
