BIDDEFORD, Maine – The No. 3 University of New England women's soccer team rolled to a 2-0 victory over No. 6 Salve Regina in a Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship First Round matchup at UNE Blue Storm Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Nor'easters will visit No. 2 Roger Williams in the Semifinals on Wednesday (Nov. 6).
Caroline Wilson was tripped up in the box in the 36th minute, leading to a penalty kick opportunity for UNE. Katie Beaudoin buried the shot for her team-leading 13th goal of the season.
The Nor'easters dominated possession in the first half and outshot the Seahawks 15-2 in the period.
UNE shut the door in the 89th minute as Brianna Cota booted a long pass ahead to Beaudoin, who quickly found Ashley Sherman for an easy goal.
Shots favored the Nor'easters 21-7 overall. Jenna Pannone turned away five shots in her fourth shutout of the season. Jenna Park made five saves for Salve Regina who finish the season 9-11 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
