NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University women's soccer team has finished the last two regular seasons with shutout losses to the eventual No. 1 seed and undefeated team. Last year's regular-season finale at Roger Williams University, won by the Hawks, 3-0, gave the Seahawks the No. 6 seed and the right to face No. 3 Endicott College. This season, the Gulls finish undefeated (8-0-1) in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play following their 1-0 victory over Salve Regina on Wednesday night in Beverly, Mass. The Seahawks clinch the No. 7 seed and the right to face No. 2 Roger Williams on Saturday, October 28, at Bayside Field (11 a.m.).

LAST TIME OUT
Endicott women's soccer team finished the regular season without a loss in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, defeating Salve Regina, 1-0, on Wednesday night to improve to 12-4-1 overall, and 8-0-1 in CCC play. The Seahawks managed four shots, two on net, with Abby McMackin (Walpole, Mass.), Amanda Fantasia (Billerica, Mass.), and Ella Rath (Pawcatuck, Conn.) providing the offensive threats. Carly Pala (Milford, Conn.) made five saves for the Seahawks, and only allowed an own goal.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • Salve Regina women's soccer had just six of 18 regular-season games at home (Reynolds Field) in 2017.
  • The Seahawks finished 2-2-2 (1-1-1 CCC) in home games.
  • Abby McMackin leads the Seahawks with 11 goals, five assists, 27 points. She ranks third in the league in points, and tied for third in goals scored.
  • Courtney Bouchard, Lea Adams, and Ella Rath each have three goals on the season. Bouchard added five assists for 11 points, while Adams ranks third on the Seahawks with four assists and 10 points.
  • Carly Pala started 14 games as goalkeeper for the Seahawks and has a 1.47 goals against average with 104 saves.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Roger Williams leads the all-time series, 23-6-5, and has won the last six meetings. In this year's regular-season meeting, the Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead and held on for a 2-1 victory. Roger Williams senior Samantha Woznicki (Bristol, Conn.) scored the Hawks first goal in the sixth minute. Roger Williams junior Arianna Delli Carpini (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) scored in the 36th minute to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Her goal proved to be the game-winner. Salve Regina junior Abby McMackin (Walpole, Mass.) scored the only goal for the Seahawks with 10 seconds remaining in the first half to make the score 2-1 at the break.
