Endicott blanks Seahawks in TCCC action, 4-0

NEWPORT, R.I. - Sophomore Colleen Pepin (Fairhaven, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and graduate student Amy Meuse (Saugus, Mass.) recorded 10 saves to lead Endicott College to a 4-0 win over Salve Regina University in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Reynolds Field.

Freshman Christine Silva (Stoneham, Mass.) added a goal and an assist for the Gulls (8-4-0, 7-1-0 TCCC), who improved to 16-0-1 lifetime against the Seahawks. Senior goalkeeper Katie Vaudrain (Pawtucket, R.I.) made four saves for the Seahawks (7-5-0, 4-3-0 TCCC), who suffered their third-straight loss.

Pepin opened the scoring at 6:15 when she lofted a shot from the left side of the box over Vaudrain and into the top right corner of the net. The Gulls stretched the lead to 2-0 when Flynn sent a cross from the right side of the field that junior Karyn Plante (Sanford, Maine) drove into the net for her second goal of the season at 18:08.

Just over 10 minutes later, Pepin potted her second of the game off a feed from Silva to increase the Endicott to 3-0 at 29:18. Silva's second goal of the season at 56:18 from the left side of the box closed the scoring and gave Endicott its third-straight win.

"They capitalized on our mistakes, and the score is not indicative of the fact that we played with them the entire game," said Seahawk head coach Kerri Scroope. "We have to finish our chances. We were shooting the ball right at the goalkeeper. We want this one back, and we're hungry to do what we have to do to get into the playoffs and have this game again."

The Seahawks outshot the Gulls 16-15 and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks. Freshman Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) posted a team-high four shots on goal for Salve Regina.

Salve Regina returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Milton, Mass. for a 1:30 contest with Curry. Endicott returns to 'The Ocean State' on Saturday to play Roger Williams at 1 p.m.
