Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Eight different players scored for the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team in a wire-to-wire victory over visiting Nichols College in the quarterfinals of the  Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) tournament Saturday afternoon.

Series and Streaks
The Seahawks have won eight in a row over the Bison and improve to 20-3 in the all-time series.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina senior Nicole Smith (North Attleboro, Mass.) scored five times and grabbed nine draw controls.
  2. Salve Regina freshman Grace Haesche (Wariwck, N.Y.) made eight saves with a 72% save percentage to improve to 9-4 between the pipes.
  3. Salve Regina freshman Emma Periera (Easton, Mass.) scored three times and handed out an assist.

Turning Point
The Seahawks wasted no time asserting themselves, opening the game on a 7-0 scoring run. Mackenzie Doran (Wolfeboro, N.H.) bookended a 3-0 spurt for the Bison to answer, but the Seahawks scored the next nine goals spanning into the third quarter and never looked back.

Quick Hits

  • Doran and Sam Ahaesy (North Dartmouth, Mass.) each finished with two goals to pace the Bison scoring.
  • Senior netminder Sabrina Dembro (Saugus, Mass.) made the start and takes the loss after making four saves. Keri Tremblay (Stow, Mass.) made 11 saves in relief.
  • Salve Regina held a 38-21 edge in shots and 32-18 in shots on goal.
  • Salve Regina advances to the seminfinals for the first time since 2018.

Salve Regina (9-4) will face top seeded Roger Williams in the semifinals on Wednesday, May 4 at 4 p.m., in Bristol, R.I., while Nichols (11-7) sees its season come to a close.
