BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team never trailed, but did have to hold off a late rally from host University of New England to earn a 14-10 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

The Seahawks led 2-0 after one qurter and scored four straight heading into half-time to lead 7-2. The teams battled even in the third then four unanswered from the Nor'easters in the fourth made it a two-goal game, 11-9, when Anna Stowell scored on a free-position shot with 9:14 remaining. Salve answered with a 3-0 spurt, two goals from freshman Cameron Baston, and the fifth of the afternoon for Nicole Smith. Kelsey Hardigan scored for UNE to stop the run but only 1:09 remained in the game and time ran out on a Nor'easter comeback.

Smith led the Seahawks attack with five goals while Stowell had a game-high six scores for the Nor'easters.

Freshman goalie Grace Haesche made 11 saves to improve to 6-2 between the pipes for the Seahawks while Madison Bruzzese stopped ten shots in the loss to fall to 2-10 in net.

Salve Regina (6-2, 3-1 CCC) travels to face Endicott on Wednesday, April 13, in another CCC contest while University of New England (2-10, 1-4 CCC) is at Gordon that same day.
