Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Six unanswered goals spanning halftime helped the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team come back to score a 7-4 victory over visiting Emmanuel College in non-conference action Thursday evening.

Series and Streaks
Tonight was the first-ever meeting between Salve Regina and Emmanuel in women's lacrosse. The Seahawks improve to 1-0 in the series.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina senior Nicole Smith (North Attleboro, Mass.) scored twice and handed out two assists while grabbing three ground balls and a game-high seven draw controls.
  2. Salve Regina freshman Grace Haesche (Warwick, N.Y.) made six saves to improve to 2-0 between the pipes for the Seahawks.
  3. Emmanuel senior Emma Crowley (Peterborough, N.H.) made 13 saves while falling to 0-2 in net this season.

Turning Point
After scoring the game's first goal the Seahawks fell behind 2-1 when Jessica Borduas (Woodbury, Conn.) scored for the Saints with 6:50 remaining in the first quarter. Holly Sullivan (Pembroke, Mass.) scored her first career goal to knot things up 2-2 at the end of the first then the Seahawks scored five more time spanning the second and third quarters while blanking the Saints in those frames. Samantha Moleti (Township of Washington, N.J.) and Smith each scored twice while Kathryn Mullin (Bethpage, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for the Seahawks in what proved to be 6-0 run to take a 7-2 lead. The Saints finally scored twice more in the fourth, but it was too late to mount a comeback.
