Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Six different players scored multiple goals for the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team as it earned its fifth straight win with an 18-12 victory over visiting Gordon College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play Wednesday afternoon.

The Fighting Scots own a 20-3 record all-time.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina sophomore Maddie Villareal (Portsmouth, R.I.) had a hand in eight goals, scoring four and assisting on four others.
  2. Salve Regina senior Katie Kline (Brookfield, Conn.) scored three times and handed out an assist while collecting game-highs with 10 groundballs and 13 draw controls.
  3. Gordon freshman Katelyn Dyer (Plainfield, N.J.) scored four times and dished out two assists to pace the Scots scoring.

Key Stat of the Game
After scoring three straight goals to tie the game 5-5 in the first half the Scots never scored back-to-back goals the remainder of the game. Every time they scored to try and steal momentum the Seahawks would answer with a goal, or goals, of their own.

Turning Point
Salve Regina trailed 2-0, then wet on a 5-0 scoring run to take the lead. After scoring three straight goals to tie the game 5-5 in the first half the Scots never scored back-to-back goals the remainder of the game. Every time they scored to try and steal momentum the Seahawks would answer with a goal, or goals, of their own. Back-to-back goals from Kiley Anderson (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Lindsey Smith early in the second half helped the Seahawks push the lead to five goals, then Smith and Olivia Slysz (South Hadley, Mass.) combined to close out the game, giving the Seahawks their largest lead at the end, a 18-12 margin.
