Seahawks fall to Gulls

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team won its third straight game and remained unbeaten in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at 4-0 following an 18-3 victory over Salve Regina at Endicott Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Gulls (7-4, 4-0 CCC) got four points in the opening half from senior attacker Kelly Tierney (South Hadley, Mass.) to take an 8-2 lead at the break, but senior midfielder Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) helped put the game away in the second half by scoring four straight goals as part of a seven-point game.  Davis finished with six goals and one assist and added seven draw controls. 

Salve Regina (2-6, 0-3 CCC) was led by Abigail Tepper (Foxboro, Mass.), Lisa Pulie (Trumbull, Conn.), and Sarah Woods (East Lyme, Conn.) who each tallied a goal in the loss.  The Seahawks return to the field on Wednesday, April 10^th at 4:30 pm at CCC opponent Nichols. 

Endicott raced out to a four-goal lead over the opening 10 minutes of the first half as Davis and Tierney each had a stick in all four goals.  Senior attacker Caitlin Pratt (Bow, N.H.) scored two of her three goals on free position conversions to make it 6-0 before Tierney added her third goal of the half to make it a 7-0 advantage for Endicott.

Salve Regina responded with back-to-back goals with 4:00 and 2:16 remaining in the opening half as Tepper scored on a free position attempt and Pulie beat the keeper, unassisted, to cut the deficit to 7-2.  Endicott's Lauren Todd (Newfields, N.H.) scored the first of her two goals of the game with just over a minute remaining until halftime to make it 8-2.

The Seahawks took just 90 seconds into the second half to net their third goal of the game as Woods scored unassisted to make it 8-3. 

Endicott proceeded to go on a 10-goal run to end the game, including Davis' four-goal rally.  During the stretch, the Gulls also got goals from junior midfielder Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.), freshman attacker Isabelle Sipperly (Greenwich, N.Y.) and two goals, both assisted by junior Courtney Jennings (Hope Valley, R.I.), from sophomore attacker Katie Tierney (South Hadley, Mass.).

Defensively, the Gulls caused 10 turnovers and got five saves in the cage from junior goalie Rachel Socolow (Westford, Mass.).  Socolow's counterpart, Seahawks junior Josephine O'Reilly (Middletown, R.I.) made seven saves in the loss.
