Livingston, Burke lift Seahawks to second TCCC win, 20-5, over Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. - Junior Sarah Livingston (Westford, Mass.) and sophomore Kelly Burke (Georgetown, Mass.) scored six goals apiece as the Salve Regina University women's lacrosse team defeated Anna Maria College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action 20-5 at AMCAT Field on Saturday evening. The win improves the Seahawks to 2-5 (2-2 TCCC), while the loss drops the AMCATS to 0-6 (0-4 TCCC) on the year.

In addition to Livingston and Burke's combined 12-goal effort, senior Nicole Viola (Scarborough, Maine) and junior Lia Lanzo (Holmdel, N.J.) combined for five goals. Sophomore Danielle Malconian (Belmont, Mass.) also played well in the victory, adding a game-high four groundballs and a goal.

 

The AMCATS were paced by the play of juniors Amanda Hevy (North Brookfield, Mass.) and Katie Schebel (Ludlow, Mass.). Hevy netted three goals while Schebel contributed with a goal and an assist.

 

The Seahawks stormed out of the gates in the first-half on a 7-0 run, with three goals coming from the stick of Burke and two from Livingston.

 

After Schebel broke the run with 22 minutes remaining in the first-half, Salve Regina went on a separate 9-1 run to take a 16-2 advantage into the locker room. Livingston added three of her six tallies during the run, while Burke and Viola each added two.

Anna Maria played Salve Regina close in the second-half, as the visitors outscored the AMCATS by a slight 4-3 margin in the second frame. The improved play of Anna Maria was too little too late, as the Seahawks cruised to the 20-5 victory.

 

Salve Regina was in control for the duration of the contest, holding a 27-15 advantage in shots and a 15-9 advantage in groundballs.

 

Junior Natalie Balletta (Leominster, Mass.) added five saves in the victory for the visitors while freshman Fabienne Jules (Leominster, Mass.) made four saves in the loss for Anna Maria.

 

Both teams return to conference play next week, as Salve Regina hosts Western New England College on Tuesday at 4:30 pm while Anna Maria travels to Roger Williams University on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
