MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - After falling behind 1-0 the visiting University of New England women's ice hockey team scored the next six goals in the game to defeat Salve Regina University 6-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

THREE STARS:

  1. UNE senior Avery Lutrzykowski posted a four-point evening with two goals and two assists. Her goal at 6:59 of the second proved to be the game-winner.
  2. UNE freshman Lainie Lemieux scored twice, to tie the game in the first, and round out a three goal second period for the Nor'easters.
  3. UNE senior Maeve Crehan also netted two goals.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Emily Wagener potted the first goal of the game at 1:13 of the first to give Salve Regina the early lead.
  • The nor'easters scored six unanswered until Jennifer Rickard buried one at 17:01 of the third for the final 6-2 margin.
  • Salve Regina outshot UNE 28-21.
  • Junior netminder Delanie Corcoran made 26 saves to improve to 4-2 in net for the Nor'easters.
  • Ellee Kopecky made 11 saves in 32 minutes of action and suffers the loss to fall to 1-3-0 in net this season for the Seahawks.
  • Sydney Baxter saw the remaining time between the pipes and made four saves for Salve Regina.

Salve Regina and the University of New England rematch tomorrow, November 19, in another Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup in Biddeford, Maine, at 5 p.m.
