Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - The Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team tied Curry College 2-2 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Monday evening at St. George's.

The Seahawks lead the all-time series 1-0-1.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Curry freshman Anna Langton (Zimmerman, Minn.) made 35 saves to improve to 3-11-1 in net.
  2. Salve Regina senior Brynn Mendes (Centerville, Mass.) scored her first goal of the year and the Seahawks second of the game in the first period.
  3. Curry freshman Danielle Stein (Plainview, N.Y.) notched the game-tying goal at 11:14 of the third.

Turning Point
Stein scored on a breakaway for the Colonels in the third period to help erase what had been a 2-0 deficit entering the second period. Both teams had scoring opportunities to close out regulation and in overtime, but both netminders were perfect down the stretch forcing a 2-2 draw.

Quick Hits

  • Ellee Kopecky (Warren, R.I.) made 20 saves in the tie to stand at 1-1-1 between the pipes this season.
  • Cassidy Lariviere (Marstons Mills, Mass.) put the Seahawks on top 1-0 with her first of the season at 11:46 of the first period. Mendes followed shortly thereafter for a 2-0 Seahawks advantage.
  • Ali Olorenshaw (Saskatoon, Sask.) notched the only goal in the second period to cut into the lead and Stein knotted the game up in the third.
  • Salve Regina outshot the Colonels 37-22.
  • The Seahawks were 0-for-2 on the powerplay and did not commit a penalty in the game.

Next Up
Salve Regina (4-9-2, 3-5-2 CCC) will now travel to Nichols on February 4, while Curry (3-15-1, 1-10-1 CCC) hits the road to face Suffolk that same day.
