Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. - Visiting Wesleyan University jumped out to a 3-0 lead and defeated the Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team 3-1 in non-conference action Tuesday evening at St. George's.

Series and Streaks
The Cardinals have won the last five meetings and now lead the all-time series 8-7-0.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Wesleyan sophomore Jenna Stevens (Avon, Conn.) scored what proved to be the game-winner at 14:26 of the second to make it 2-0 Cardinals.
  2. Salve Regina senior Madison Jalbert (Beverly, Mass.) made a season-high 41 saves to fall to 1-5-0 between the pipes.
  3. Wesleyan junior Brooke Keough (Marblehead, Mass.) assisted on the game-winning goal and scored at 2:25 of the third to make it 3-0.

Turning Point
The Cardinals outshot and dominated possession for most of the game, however Emma Gotthelf (West Hartford, Conn.) scored on a breakaway at 7:24 of the third to put the Seahawks on the board and shift some momentum Salve's way. Despite the third period push the Seahawks could not find the back of the net again and the Cardinals regained their footing, keeping play in the Seahawks end to prevent them from pulling the goalie in the final minutes.
