Phalon won 5-of-8 face offs for the Seahawks.

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's hockey team recorded its fourth straight shutout on Saturday afternoon en route to a 3-0 victory over Salve Regina in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East action at Kreitzberg Arena.

Junior goalie Loren Carrier (Chandler, Ariz.) stopped all 15 shots she faced, while senior forward Tori Charron (Tecumseh, Ontario), senior defenseman Marie-Philip Guay (Longueuil, Quebec) and junior forward Madyson Moore (Dubuque, Iowa) each scored a goal to the lead the Cadets to the victory.

Norwich (5-1-0, 4-0-0 ECAC East) jumped out on top at the 13:31 mark of the first period when Charron netted her team-leading seventh goal of the season off an assist from freshman Adelle Murphy (Roseau, Minn.).

Murphy won battle along the boards behind the net with two Salve Regina defenders draped all over her. She kicked the puck out to Charron, who walked out to the left side of the net and tucked the puck in near post before Salve Regina starting goalie Mariah Mosher (Auburn, Maine) could get her pad over to the post.

Salve Regina (2-2-0, 1-2-0 ECAC East) nearly tied the game at the end of the first period as Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.) pounced on a loose puck in the high slot off a scrum in front of the Norwich net to wrist the shot in past Carrier as the horn sounded. However, the officials consulted and ruled that time had expired before the puck crossed the line to keep Norwich on top 1-0 heading into the first intermission.

Norwich increased its lead to 2-0 at the 6:17 mark of the second period with a shorthanded goal by Moore off an assist from senior forward Haley Gibson (Richmond, Ontario).

Moore's fourth goal of the season came on a one-timer in the slot after Gibson chased down a loose puck in the corner, walked out, deked past a Salve Regina defender and then sent a backhand pass to Moore who take care of the rest, driving a shot past Salve Regina goalie Colleen Marcik (Madison, Conn.).

The third period featured three stoned breakaways with Marcik making two saves and Carrier stopping one as well. Junior forward Kaycie Anderson (Maple Plain, Minn.) had the first chance for Norwich with 13:13 left in the 3rd but her quick forehand shot attempting for Marcik's five-hole was turned away.

The two teams then traded breakaways eight seconds apart with Michaela Chiuccariello stoned by a blocker save from Carrier. Norwich countered with a breakaway by Shalyn Pavlisko (Oshawa, Ontario) that Marcik made a save on after Pavlisko tried to go backhand to the right post.

Norwich did add an insurance tally late in the third with Guay blasting a shot from the blue line that found its way through traffic and into the bottom left corner of the net. Gibson won a faceoff back to senior defenseman Liz Gemmiti (Woodbridge, Ontario), who went d-to-d with the pass to Guay.

Norwich outshot Salve Regina 33-15 and extended its shutout streak to 244:01 consecutive minutes.

Norwich improved to 8-2-3 all-time against Salve Regina. Carrier improved to 2-1-0 on the year and picked up her second shutout, while Mosher was tagged with the loss for Salve Regina.
