NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina women's ice hokcey head coach Michael Cox has named the three captains of the 2013-14 Seahawk squad as practice is officially underway for the new year.

Junior Taylor Shepherd (Quincy, Mass.), and senior Monika Borkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Shannon Coleman (Chicago, Ill.) have been named the trio of captains for the 2013-14 season.

"These three young ladies have certainly earned the respect of their teammates and coaches through their hard work, dedication and selflessness," remarked Coach Cox. "They are all fiercely competitive, championship driven and they have the uncanny ability to inspire their teammates to greatness. I have the upmost confidence in their ability to lead on and off the ice and set a great example for their teammates. We're in good hands."

Shepherd finished the year third on the team in points with 24 (12g, 12a) while Coleman was an anchor on a Seahawk defense that posted a 2.26 goals against average. Borkowksi finished the year with five points (5 assists) for Salve Reigna.
