CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Salve Regina University women's ice hockey team placed 10 student-athletes on the 2012-13 Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Academic Hockey Team, as announced by the interim commissioner last Friday. The 10 Seahawks mark the most for Salve Regina since the 2009-10 season when nine student-athletes represented Salve Regina.

Included on the team are seniors Caitlyn Farragher (Plymouth, Mass), Sarah McCusker (Havertown, Pa.), Melanie Sherlock (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Kelsey Talty  (Fairport, N.Y.) and Samantha Zitzer (River Forest, Ill.) with junior Monika Borkowski (Ann Arbor, Mich.). Sophomores Michaela Chiuccariello (Winchester, Mass.), Shannon Coleman, (Chicago, Ill.), Sarah Markey  (Ashland, Mass.) and Taylor Shepherd Quincy, Mass.) round out Salve Regina's selections with their first all-academic nod.

In order to be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic year at their current institution, while also compiling a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.

A total of 93 student-athletes representing all 12 member institutions were named to this year's all-academic team. The Seahawks placed more players on the all-academic team than all but three conference institutions.
