Seahawks earn four all-conference selections

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Salve Regina women's ice hockey team placed four on the Eastern College Athletic Conference Women's East All-Conference teams, as announced Friday night. There was a Seahawk representative on every team, including the all-rookie team.

Senior Rachel Porter (Franklin, Mass.) highlighted the teams with a first team nod, her second first team selection over the last two seasons. Porter finished her record-breaking career as a Seahawk with one last historic season. Already holding the school's season point record, Porter broke the program's career assist record and became the all-time leader in point as the only player to break the 100-point mark. Porter finished her career with 102 points, including 57 assists.

Porter finished the regular season tied for eighth against league opponents with 12 assists and was second in defensemen scoring with 15 points against the ECAC East (3g, 12a). Overall, Porter wrapped up the season tied for seventh in scoring with 28 points (6g, 22a), breaking her own single-season assist record with 22. Porter finished tied for second in the league in assists and was the top overall defensemen in scoring.

Senior goalie Ali Muehlbronner (Glenside, Pa.) was one of the top goaltenders in the league as she picked up a second team nod. Muehlbronner finished the 2012-13 season with an impressive 2.35 goals against average, which ranks second on SRU's all-time single season list, and a 90.6% save percentage. Her 567 saves ranks her fifth all-time in single season saves for Salve Regina and pushes her career total to 1,326, fourth all time on Salve Regina's career list.

Sophomore Taylor Shepherd (Quincy, Mass.) earned her first all-conference selection with a spot on the honorable mention team. Shepherd finished the year with 24 points (12g, 12a). Her 12 goals ranks her second on the team in goals and 10th in the league. Shepherd finished the season tied for third in the league with 12 power play points (6g, 6a) and fourth in power play goals (6).

Freshman Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.) wrapped up the all-conference selections with an all-rookie team nod. Phalon finished the year fourth in the league in freshman scoring with 18 points (10g, 8a) and paced the Seahawks with three game-winning goals.

The Seahawks finished the year with 15-11 overall record and a11-7 slate in the ECAC East, earning the No. 3 seed in the playoffs.
