HARTFORD, Conn. – Freshman Cheeky Herr (Cherry Hill, N.J.) broke a 2-2 tie just 4:59 into the third period to lift Trinity (Conn.) past Salve Regina, 3-2, Tuesday evening.

Senior Sarah McCusker (Havertown, Pa.) gave Salve Regina (8-7) an early 1-0 lead off its first power play opportunity of the game off an assist from freshman Danielle Phalon (Stoneham, Mass.). The Seahawks carried their next power play chance into the second period and quickly scored on sophomore Taylor Shepherd's (Quincy, Mass.) team-leading 10th goal of the season off a pass from Porter and McCusker.

Freshman Shannon Farrell (Kennebunk, Maine) put the Bantams on the board with her second goal of the season, taking a pass from senior Britney Ryan (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) to cut the SRU lead to 2-1.

The Bantams were able to kill two power play chances for Salve Regina to close out the second period and keep the Seahawks close.

Senior Rebecca Rosen (Syosset, N.Y.) tied the game for Trinity 3:14 into the third period off passes from sophomore Lucy Robinson (Toronto, Ontario) and junior Emily Keidon (Oakdale, Minn.). Just over 1:30 later, Herr pushed the game winning goal past SRU's goalie, senior Ali Muehlbronner (Glenside, Pa.) before both teams killed a power play chance to close out the game and bring the final score to 3-2.

Muehlbronner made 24 saves in the loss for Salve Regina while Trinity's goalie, junior Alexa Pujol (New Canaan, Conn.) stopped 26 shots.

Salve Regina returns to the ice when the Seahawks welcome Castleton State College on Saturday January 19 for an ECAC East contest at the Portsmouth Abbey in Portsmouth, R.I. beginning at 7 pm.
