BOSTON, Mass. - The UMass Boston women's ice hockey team scored with just 88 seconds remaining in regulation to capture a 3-2 lead over the visiting Seahawks of Salve Regina University during an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast contest on Friday evening. It was the second consecutive 3-2 loss suffered by the Seahawks, who fall to 9-7-4 overall and 5-5-3 during conference play.

Junior Rachel Porter (Franklin, Mass.) scored both Seahawk goals and has now earned a point in seven consecutive contests, compiling 14 points during that span.

Porter gave the Seahawks a 1-0 advantage after one period, scoring an unaasisted marker at the 7:44 mark of the opening frame.

The Beacons responded with a pair of scores in the second period to grab a 2-1 lead. Freshman Dylan Caron (Burriville, R.I.) tied the game 8:48 into the period, while Emily LaRosa scored on a power play less than three minutes later to put UMB in front heading into the final frame.

The game appeared destined for overtime when freshman Taylor Shepherd (Quincy, Mass.) and rookie Michaela Chiuccariello (Winchester, Mass.) set up Porter for her second goal of the game on a power play opportunity just over five minutes into the third period.

However,  with just 88 seconds remaining on the clock, Larosa fed sophomore Katie Loiselle (Glocester, R.I.) for the game-winning score, sealing a 3-2 victory.

The Seahawks will return to action on the road versus St. Anselm on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., before returning home to celebrate senior night next Friday at 8:00 p.m.
