Camels come back to win on road against Seahawks

NEWPORT, R.I. (Saturday, December 2, 2023) -- Salve Regina University women's basketball welcomed the Camels of Connecticut College to the Rodgers Recreation Center for the first time since 2002. The Seahawks led by as many as nine in the second quarter before suffering their second-straight defeat at home with the Camels victorious, 78-66.

Rebecca Oberman-Levine (Hamden, Conn.) led all players with 35 points on 15-of-24 from the floor including 5-of-9 from long range. Sofia Neary (Wayne, N.J.) and sister Briana Neary combined for 52 of Salve Regina's 66 points, with 27 and 25, respectively. Briana made it a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds.

All-Time Series: The programs first met in 1983 for a home-away series in the first week of February (each team won its home game). The Camels had a four-game win streak from 1984-1993. Kerry Ceurvels' 1994 squad snapped the skid with a 75-62 win at The Hut. In back-to-back years (1998, 1999), the Seahawks won against the Camels on the road and started a five-game winning streak that carries to today. The last meeting (Dec. 8, 2002), Salve Regina won at home, 70-32. Connecticut College's win today evens the all-time series at 8-8.
