Seahawks come through in the clutch; improve to 3-0

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - A late 16-8 run followed by 11 made free throws helped the Salve Regina University women's basketball team defeat UMass Dartmouth on the road Wednesday night in non-conference action.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Amanda Folan led all scorers with 19 points on 6-14 shooting with four three pointers.
  • Briana Neary corralled a game-high 11 boards.
  • Morgan Shuey dished out a team-high eight assists and knocked down 9-12 free throws.
  • UMass knotted the score at 50 to start the fourth, but the Seahawks then went on a 16-8 run to go up, 66-58, with 5:38 to go.
  • UMass brought the deficit to 68-67 with 2:32 on the clock.
  • The Seahawks then made 11 free throws in the final two minutes compared to three points for the Corsairs to put teh game away.
