Hawks pull away after first to defeat Seahawks
NEWPORT, R.I. (January 14, 2020) -- Sophomore Karli Opalka (Southbury, Conn.) registered a double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead visiting Roger Williams University over Salve Regina University, 62-41, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action at the Rodgers Recreation Center on Tuesday evening.
The first seven minutes had only 10 points combined (Hawks led 6-4) before Brooke Vonasek (Willington, Conn.) made a short jumper to forge the game's only tie. Gabby Jerahian (Quincy, Mass.) hit a 3-pointer on the next trip down the court and Roger Williams stayed ahead the rest of the way.

Salve Regina leads the all-time series, 48-23, but Roger Williams has now won nine straight meetings and the last six in Newport.
