NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University athletics resumes its summer series with a daily flashback to the top five moments of 2016-17 for each of its 19 varsity sports. Beginning with Memorial Day (Monday, May 29, 2017) and finishing with the final day of August, 95 moments (19 x 5) will be shared to relive the most exciting happenings of the most recent Seahawk season.

Salve Regina University women's basketball ran in the the school's annual Mansion Run with a purpose. Not for conditioning for the upcoming season, but to help someone else who was unable to run.

Noelle Lambert, Division I women's lacrosse player from Londonderry, N.H., started her collegiate athletic career started out with a bang – leading her UMass Lowell River Hawk team in goals scored, and being named to the American East Conference All-Rookie team last spring.

In July, she lost her leg in an accident while riding a moped.

Her former high school basketball teammate, Salve Regina's Tara Burke, approached Seahawk head coach Cori Hughes with the premise of helping out Noelle Lambert. Since Lambert had already established an account on gofundme.com, Hughes suggested the team solicit donations and run in the annual 5K race during Fall Festival Weekend.

On October 22, the starting gun went off on Webster Avenue in Newport and over 200 runners were on their way. By the time Salve Regina women's basketball players had completed the course, the Seahawks had generated $2,000 in donations from generous sponsors.
