Seahawks running for a River Hawk

NEWPORT, R.I. - At noon on July 30, 2016, nineteen-year-old Noelle Lambert was doing what many of us would love to be doing: enjoying a moped ride with a friend/teammate on a beautiful day in Martha's Vineyard. Minutes later, Noelle found herself being airlifted to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Lambert (and her teammate) thankfully survived the horrendous accident. But of all the wounds she suffered, the one that cut the deepest was the loss her left leg above the knee.

A Division I women's lacrosse player from Londonderry, N.H., Noelle's collegiate athletic career started out with a bang – leading her UMass Lowell River Hawk team in goals scored, and being named to the American East Conference All-Rookie team last spring.

The day after her accident, Lambert had only one question for her college coach: "Am I still on the team?"

In addition to sponsoring a Salve Regina women's baseball player during the 2016 Mansion Run (5K), you may also make a donation directly with Noelle Lambert's gofundme.com page.

Tara Burke and Noelle Lambert Tara Burke and Noelle Lambert were high school teammates on the Londonderry (N.H.) basketball team.

As a freshman at Salve Regina, Burke continued her basketball career with 23 games played including seven starts. She earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) rookie of the week honors following a season-high 21 points in a Salve Regina victory at Nichols (Jan. 21, 2016).

Noelle Lambert is a fighter.

And when she sets a goal, she achieves it.

Just ask her former high school basketball teammate and friend – Salve Regina University sophomore and women's basketball player Tara Burke:

"Noelle is without a doubt the strongest person I have ever known, and this accident has only gone to show how strong she truly is. Most people would not have the strength or courage to bounce back like Noelle is. She just flew through recovery, then rehab, all while excitedly talking about getting back onto the field. It is such an inspiration to witness!"

The Salve Regina University women's basketball team is looking for you to help us help Noelle.

On Saturday, October 22, we will be running in the 2016 5K Mansion Run in Newport, R.I.. for Noelle. We are asking YOU to sponsor us in our effort to assist her in achieving her goal.

"The money you share to sponsor our team will be donated to Noelle's gofundme account. It will be used to help her purchase a sport-specific prosthetic leg that will allow her to get back into the game. Together, we can help her to achieve her dream ..." - Tara Burke
