Pendergast to compete in NEWBA all-star game

New England Women's Basketball Association KEENE, N.H. - The New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) today announced the 22 participants to the 2014 NEWBA Senior All-Star Classic, which will be played at Smith College on Saturday, March 29 and four Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) athletes will be competing in the classic.

CCC participants include Roger Williams' Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, Conn.) and Ari Renwick (Westwood, Mass.), Salve Regina's Marissa Pendergast (Medfield, Mass.), and Wentworth's Kendra Kerr (Marshfield, Mass.).

Pendergast, a CCC first teamer, finished out a great career with the Seahawks. In 27 games this past season she averaged 13 points, 10.6 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 1.7 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game. The senior finished the 2013-14 as the team's leading rebounder with 286 boards (74 OFF, 212 DEF), second highest scorer with 350 points, while earning a .412 field-goal percentage. Pendergast also finished first in steals (50) and blocks (38) and third in assists (47) for the Seahawk squad.

She became the 12th women's basketball player in school history to reach 1,000-point milestone (January 11, 2014, against Gordon College). Pendergast led the conference in rebounding and was the only CCC player to average a double-double for the season.
