NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Erin Phillips (Morristown, N.J.) has been named to the D3hoops.com Women's All-Northeast Region Second Team.

The 2010-11 The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Player of the Year, Phillips ranked third in scoring (17.0 ppg), fourth in blocked shots (1.7 bpg), fifth in steals (2.7 spg), and eighth in rebounding (8.4 rpg) to lead the Seahawks to a 25-4 record. A three-time TCCC Player of the Week selection, Phillips helped the Seahawks post a perfect 13-0 conference record and advance to their sixth NCAA Tournament with wins over Curry, Regis (Mass.), and University of New England in the championship playoffs.

"I am so happy that Erin has been recognized by d3hoops," said Salve Regina head coach Corinne Hughes. "She is, of course, a tremendous offensive presence, with the ability to take it to the basket or bury the 3. Erin averaged 17 points per game and shot 43 pct. from the floor in spite of always being the defense's focus, and often being double and triple teamed."

A two-time All-TCCC First Team selection, Phillips finished her career No. 2 all-time in scoring at Salve Regina with 1,498 points. She is also the school's all-time leader in field goals (578) and ranks fourth in blocked shots (146) and steals (279), and seventh in rebounds (688).

"I hope that it is also as well noted that Erin is an amazing defensive player," added Hughes. "She averaged 8.4 rebounds per game this season, but 6.3 of those we defensive. In addition, she averaged 2.7 steals and 1.7 blocks - and she did this while defending our opponent's best offensive player almost every game...without fouling out once all season! Erin is a special, gifted player who will be sorely missed."

Phillips was one of three TCCC student-athletes honored by the D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region Team, joining Ashley Wright of Endicott (First Team) and Rachel Williams of New England College (Third Team). For a complete list of d3hoops.com Northeast All-Region selections, click HERE.
