Phillips leads Salve Regina over Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. - The Gordon women concluded the 2009-10 basketball season, losing 60-42 to visiting Salve Regina. With the loss, the Scots conclude the season at 9-16, and posted a 2-11 conference record.  Salve Regina finishes their regular season at 15-9, with a 10-3 TCCC mark. The Seahawks will finish in 4th place in TCCC and host a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday.

Gordon honored its three seniors, Kim Levinsky (West Caldwell, N.J.), Rebecca Carroll (Pleasant Valley, N.Y.), and Brianna Records (Bar Harbor, Maine) before the game. Carroll posted the 18th double-double of her career and 11th this season, as she finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Levinsky finished a record breaking season by sinking 3 3-pointers, raising her single-season record to 81.

Salve Regina took total control from the opening tip. Led by junior forward Erin Phillips (Morristown, N.J.) (game high 22 points), the Seahawks opened the contest on a 24-2 run in the game's first 7:39, capitalizing on a number of Scots' turnovers. Gordon battled back, sparked by sophomore guard Heather DeKleine, but still trailed 40-20 at the break. Phillips had 18 points in the first half.

Salve Regina began the second half on a 13-5 run, and opened their widest lead of the game at 53-25 with 13:35 remaining. Lindsay Shorey (Ashland, Mass.) displayed a variety of low post moves to join Phillips in double figures with 15 total points.

DeKleine and Carroll led Gordon in scoring with 10 points apiece, while Levinsky scored 9.  Marybeth Conlon and Kayla Pacheco added 6 and 5 points respectively.
