NEWPORT, R.I. (April 5, 2022) - Eastern Nazarene College (8-12) sophomore pitcher Jennelle Muñoz (Lake Elsimore, Calif.) had half as many hits (four) as she allowed (eight) as she tossed 13 shutout innings to lead the Lions to two non-league wins, 5-0 and 9-0 (six innings), against Salve Regina University (8-11) at Toppa Field in Newport.

Drew Ceppetelli (Barrington, N.H.) played right field against the Lions and collected two hits and a sacrifice bunt in five plate appearances while getting an assist on a ground out. All eight Seahawk hits in the doubleheader were singles. Muñoz did not walk a batter in the opener, but Nikki Vanelli (Quakertown, Pa.) drew a base on balls in the nightcap and pinch-hitter Talia Williams (Woonsocket, R.I.) reached on a hit-by-pitch after fouling off a half dozen pitches.

Seahawk first baseman Lauren Packer (Manchester, Conn.) collected two singles in the opener and reached on a fielder's choice in the nightcap before stealing a base. She was the only Seahawk to reach third base in the two games.

Muñoz had two of her team's 10 hits in the opener including an RBI double. A 2-0 Lion lead into the Top 7th, Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.) led off with a double and after a grounder to Vanelli at third held Castro at second for the first out, Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) homered deep to left field into a strong breeze. Olaveson scored three times in the nightcap while Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) collected three singles. Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) had the only extra basehit in the second game, a one-out run-scoring double in the second inning.

Isabelle Michaud (Branford, Conn.) started both games in the circle and was relieved by Abbie McDonough (Taunton, Mass.) in the fifth of Game One and third of Game Two.

Salve Regina travels to Wellesley, Mass., for a non-league twinbill at Babson College on Wednesday.
