Nor'easters four the better in CCC sweep, 10-6 and 8-4

NEWPORT, R.I. (April 3, 2022) - A pair of four-run margins (10-6 and 8-4) produce a sweep for University of New England against Salve Regina University in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) softball action at Toppa Field on Sunday afternoon.

Francesca Rubino (Burlington, Mass.) continued her stellar play in center field for the Seahawks, including an assist to nail a Nor'easter runner at the plate, while also contributing offensively with a 3-for-4 day with the bat.

The No. 9 hitter in the Nor'easter lineup, left fielder Makenzy Herron (Boylston, Mass.), also had a productive day at the plate. Her bases-loaded triple in the opener highlighted a six-run fifth inning for the Nor'easters (9-13, 3-1 CCC) who led 8-0 into the bottom of that frame. Salve Regina (8-9, 0-4 CCC) managed three runs to keep the game on track for seven innings. The Seahawks scored again in the sixth and two more in the seventh for the 10-6 final.
