SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore Nicole Parry (Quincy, Mass.) as its Pitcher of the Week for softball (April 7-13).

Pitcher of the Week - Parry earned victories against three different CCC teams while posting a 3-1 weekly record and a 0.72 ERA, and notching 33 strikeouts against just one walk in 29-1/3 innings of work. Parry opened the week with seven shutout innings of three-hit ball and 13 strikeouts in a 6-0 victory at Gordon. In nine innings of work in a 6-5 victory over Western New England, the sophomore allowed just two earned runs on 11 hits, while fanning eight, and walking none. Parry closed out the stanza with her second complete-game shutout of the week in CCC play, tossing a five-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks in a 4-0 triumph against Curry. Parry's lone setback of the week came in the form of a hard-luck 3-2 loss at UMass Boston in which she allowed just one earned run on seven hits in 6-1/3 innings with four strikeouts and no walks.

"Nicole continues to impress me," says first-year head coach Jessica DePolito. "She sets the tone for the entire team when she's in the circle and she even throws harder as the innings progress. Parry and Benoit work very well together as they do a great job of reading batters. They formulate a great pitching sequence that keeps hitters off balance, something the entire staff has worked on all winter."

Parry and her fellow pitchers threw 31 innings over the weekend without issuing a base on balls. Parry earns the pitcher of the week honor for the second time this season (March 24-30); she joins freshman centerfielder Lexi Soucie (No. Easton, Mass.) as Seahawks with CCC weekly honors.

The Seahawks (14-14; 11-3 CCC) are tied for second place with Roger Williams, and play the Hawks on Wednesday in Bristol, R.I. (3 p.m.). After Easter Sunday, Salve Regina hosts its final CCC regular-season doubleheader when Endicott comes to Toppa Field on Monday, April 21 (4 p.m.).
